Komodo comes in three lengths out of Labuan Bajo: Jurassic Komodo over five nights, Ultimate Komodo over seven and Beyond Komodo over nine, the last pushing past the park boundary. The operator publishes its own site notes for Castle Rock, Crystal Rock, Golden Passage, Karang Makassar, Mawan, Pengah Kecil, Pulau Kambing, The Cauldron and Three Sisters, which is the working list for these trips. Land time includes the Padar trek to the Pillarsteen viewpoint at sunset and a ranger-led dragon walk on Rinca.
Raja Ampat is where the longest routes run, from Central at six nights through North at seven, extended North and South at eight, and Ultimate Raja Ampat at eleven. Dampier Strait sites like Blue Magic, Cape Kri, Mioskon and Sawandarek Jetty anchor the central legs, with Manta Ridge, Citrus Ridge and Mayhem around Gam and Arborek, and Wayag, Penemu, Kawe and Aljui Bay on the northern push. Embarkation is at Waisai, with most guests overnighting in Sorong first.
Misool carries the southern routes, reached on the South and Ultimate Raja Ampat itineraries rather than sold on its own. Wayil, Boo, Fiabacet, Farondi and Warakaraket are the named sites, the soft coral and schooling fish end of Raja Ampat rather than the current-driven drifts of the Dampier Strait. Getting there costs sailing time, which is why it only appears on the eight-night and longer trips.
Halmahera is sold as a crossing rather than a loop, combined with Lembeh and Raja Ampat in one long itinerary. It is the least-visited water the boat works and the reason the schedule reaches twelve days at the top end. Expect volcanic topography, macro subjects and anchorages where no other liveaboard is likely to be sitting.
Suits: divers who want long routes at a mid-range price, and solo travellers in particular. Departures are guaranteed regardless of numbers, so a trip booked alone still sails, and sharing a cabin costs nothing extra. Free loan of SMBs, reef hooks and computers takes the sting out of the kit bill, and booking direct includes a dive insurance policy with medical evacuation cover.
Also works for: anyone prone to seasickness. The four Deluxe cabins sit on the lower deck where the motion is least, and the engine room is soundproofed away from the sleeping areas.
Less suited to: non-divers and short-break travellers. The shortest trip is five nights and most run seven to eleven, the programme is built dive by dive, and the boat carries no kayaks, paddleboards or other water toys beyond snorkelling gear. Divers over 64 also face medical paperwork, and 75 is a hard age ceiling.
La Galigo was built in 2012 at Bira in South Sulawesi, with an ironwood hull and teak interiors. The 33-metre, two-masted phinisi was designed by an experienced liveaboard diver, with a dedicated stern dive platform and a soundproofed engine room isolated from the cabins. Her latest published refit was in 2025.
Fourteen guests sleep in seven cabins across three grades. Four 12 m² Deluxe cabins sit on the lower deck, two 14 m² Master cabins are on the upper deck, and the 22 m² Suite adds a private lounge, 48-inch screen, refrigerator and private balcony with 270-degree views. Every cabin has an ensuite bathroom with hot water, individual air conditioning and an American sprung mattress. Double and twin configurations are available in the published cabin categories.
Dive equipment includes a dedicated dive deck and platform, two 6 m tenders, 12- and 15-litre aluminium tanks, rental sets and onboard courses. Nitrox is available for an additional daily charge. SMBs, reef hooks and dive computers are included, and the vessel carries emergency oxygen, a satellite phone and first-aid equipment.
Scheduled trips run from 6 days and 5 nights, with Jurassic Komodo currently published from USD 2,735 per person. Longer itineraries cover Komodo, Raja Ampat, Halmahera and North Sulawesi. Route-specific marine park and local fees are charged separately, and private-charter pricing is available on request.
Twenty-two square metres on the upper deck, and the only cabin of its kind on board. It comes with a private lounge of sofas and a coffee table, a 48-inch flatscreen, an oversized en-suite, a powerful air conditioning system, its own refrigerator that the crew will stock on request, and a private balcony with seating for both dining and lounging that opens to 270 degrees of view. Sleeps two.
Fourteen square metres on the upper deck, away from the traffic of the main deck and positioned for sunrise from the bed. En-suite with hot running water, in-room air conditioning control and an American sprung mattress. Can be made up as one double or two singles, so long as you say which when booking. Sleeps two.
Twelve square metres on the lower deck, where the motion is least, which is why the operator points guests prone to seasickness here rather than upstairs. Private en-suite with a hot shower, climate control and an American sprung mattress. Sleeps two.
Scheduled trips are priced per person per trip, with the lowest published Komodo itinerary starting from USD 2,735 for 6 days and 5 nights. The fare includes embarkation-day and disembarkation-day transfers, accommodation, meals and non-packaged snacks, drinking water, standard 12-litre tanks and air fills, weights, mask, fins, SMB and reel, reef hook, dive computer, tenders, guides and applicable land excursions. Route-specific park and local fees, equipment rental beyond the included items, nitrox, 15-litre tanks, courses, alcohol, soft drinks, insurance unless included through a direct-booking promotion, possible fuel surcharges and gratuities are extra. Private-charter pricing is available only on request.
Availability and quotes for La Galigo are handled by the operator directly. KomodoInsider does not take bookings or add a commission.

Yes. Every scheduled departure is guaranteed to sail regardless of how many bookings are confirmed, so a trip will still go ahead even with a single guest on board.
Yes. Solo travellers can share a cabin at no extra charge, or take a cabin to themselves for a supplement of 65 per cent of the nightly rate.
Route-specific packages for marine park, local access, harbour and anchorage fees are extra. Current examples for the August 2026 to May 2027 season include USD 345 for Raja Ampat North, USD 320 for Central Raja Ampat, USD 310 for Raja Ampat South and USD 395 for Ultimate Raja Ampat. Komodo itinerary pages list their own current fee. Full equipment rental is USD 35 per person per day, and nitrox is USD 25 per person per day.
Twelve and fifteen-litre aluminium tanks, nitrox averaging 32 per cent, and full Aqualung and Scubapro rental sets. SMBs, reef hooks and dive computers are lent free of charge, and courses can be run on board. There are two dive tenders and a dedicated dive platform at the stern.
Yes. Divers over 64 need a doctor confirmation of fitness to dive, divers over 69 need that plus a private guide for the trip, and 75 is the maximum age. The operator sets these because of the remoteness of the routes and the strong currents in its areas of operation.
Spirits yes, with no corkage. Beer and wine no, as the boat sells its own: local beer from USD 3 a can in Komodo and USD 5 in Raja Ampat, and imported wine at USD 40 a bottle.
Around four on a full day: three day dives starting at about 07:00 to 07:30, plus a night dive. The first and second-to-last days are lighter at one or two dives, and days with a long crossing or a land trek drop a dive as well. Fourteen guests are split across three dive guides into three groups.
Yes. PADI Advanced Open Water is USD 600 and PADI Nitrox is USD 330, with the theory done beforehand through PADI eLearning and the practical, paperwork and certification handled on the boat. Private tuition or a private guide is USD 100 a day.
