Three- to five-day liveaboard trips combine Komodo diving with snorkeling and selected island excursions from Labuan Bajo.
Best suited to budget-conscious divers and social travellers comfortable with shared bathrooms, dormitory bunks or covered open-air deck sleeping.
Nusantara is a 21-metre budget-friendly wooden liveaboard operated by Mikumba Diving for trips in Komodo National Park. Built in 2017 and completely overhauled in 2022, the vessel accommodates up to 12 guests and is designed primarily for divers who prefer a simple, social onboard experience.
Accommodation is split between one lower-deck dormitory sleeping eight guests in bunk-style beds and a covered upper-deck sleeping area with four individual mattresses. Each dorm berth has a privacy curtain, personal fan, light, power socket and storage. The upper-deck option is an open-air sleeping area rather than a private cabin. Two shared western-style bathrooms with showers serve all guests.
Shared spaces include a large outdoor dining area, a spacious sun deck with oversized beanbags, a shaded relaxation area and an aft dive deck with direct access to the water. The boat carries DIN and INT tanks, snorkeling equipment, an Alkin compressor, a tender with twin 40 hp outboards and emergency oxygen. Navigation and safety equipment includes GPS, VHF radio, SART, EPIRB, a 25-person life raft, life jackets, flares, smoke signals, fire extinguishers and cabin smoke alarms.
Mikumba Diving offers 3- to 5-day liveaboard trips in Komodo. Freshly prepared local meals, fruit, snacks, tea, coffee and drinking water are included by the operator; soft drinks and beer are available at extra cost. Published third-party pricing currently starts around USD 225 per person per day and should be reconfirmed for the selected departure.
The operator requires a 30% deposit, with the standard balance due 30 days before departure and group or charter balances due 90 days before departure. Deposits and bank fees are generally non-refundable, and late cancellations may forfeit additional payments. Dive and travel insurance are required. National park fees and final trip inclusions should be checked directly with the operator before booking.
