Multi-day Labuan Bajo departures cover northern, central and southern Komodo diving, with island treks and wildlife visits when conditions allow.
Selected long-range sailings extend to Alor; current dates, embarkation ports and diver requirements must be confirmed with the operator.
Above-deck cabins and convertible sofa beds support selected family arrangements, while dive groups remain capped at four divers per guide.
Best suited to divers, couples and families seeking above-deck cabins, small dive groups and a dedicated support boat.
Komodo Sea Dragon is a 35-metre wooden dive liveaboard operating in Komodo National Park and Alor. Its unusual two-vessel setup keeps diving operations on a dedicated support boat, leaving the main vessel focused on cabins, dining and relaxation. Six above-deck cabins accommodate 12 guests in the standard configuration.
Built in 2009 and most recently renovated in 2023, Komodo Sea Dragon measures 35 metres long and 8 metres wide. It cruises at around eight knots and uses a 400 HP main engine. All six cabins sit on the main or upper deck, providing exterior windows and significantly more natural light than a conventional lower-deck arrangement.
The operator also notes that convertible sofa beds can create flexibility for family or triple occupancy, potentially taking selected bookings beyond the standard 12-person setup. Because the published technical specification lists a maximum of 12 guests, this listing uses 12 as the primary capacity. Any larger family arrangement must be approved in writing.
Four 23-square-metre Double Cabins feature a king-size bed, convertible sofa bed, writing desk, reading lights, air conditioning, ensuite bathroom and furnished private balcony. The Main Twin Cabin measures 18 square metres and includes two twin beds, sea views, desk, reading lamps, air conditioning and ensuite bathroom. A second 15-square-metre Twin Cabin provides the same core twin-bed, desk, air-conditioning and ensuite setup.
Warm-water showers, cabin towels and private bathrooms are provided across the cabin categories. The above-deck location is especially relevant for guests who prefer large windows and easy access to shared areas.
Komodo Sea Dragon separates accommodation from the operational side of diving. An approximately 18-metre support boat carries dive gear and the compressor and transfers divers directly to sites. This keeps noise and equipment away from the main liveaboard and allows the dive team to manage smaller groups.
The operator caps guided groups at four divers per guide. Up to four guided dives per day may be included, subject to the itinerary, arrival and departure timing, conditions and guest experience. Twelve-litre tanks, weights, guides and snorkeling gear are part of the standard package, while rental equipment, Nitrox, 15-litre tanks and private dive guides can cost extra.
Published routes cover the wider Komodo National Park, including Batu Bolong, Castle Rock, Crystal Rock, Manta Alley and the Cauldron, also known as Shotgun. Guided land excursions can include Komodo or Rinca for dragon viewing and Padar for viewpoints. The final route remains flexible because currents, weather, marine-park rules and diver ability affect site selection.
Komodo can be dived year-round. The operator describes April to November as a period associated with warmer conditions and southern manta encounters, while December to March can bring plankton-rich northern waters. This is seasonal guidance, not a wildlife guarantee.
The main vessel has an air-conditioned lounge and dining space with audio-video entertainment. Outdoors, guests have access to a sun deck and lounge area that can convert into alfresco dining. Complimentary 4G internet is advertised, though offshore coverage depends on the vessel’s location and local network availability.
Full-board meals, drinking water, tea, coffee, snacks and towels are included. Alcohol, selected soft drinks and additional services may be charged separately.
National-park fees are mandatory and published by trip length. Current operator amounts range from USD 120 per guest for four days and three nights to USD 240 for eight days and seven nights. Fuel or port charges can also apply depending on the booking channel and departure. Confirm the final itemised total before payment.
Both shared departures and full-boat group charters can be arranged. Ask for the exact cabin assignment, sofa-bed approval if needed, route, transfers, diving inclusions, equipment costs, insurance requirements, payment schedule and cancellation terms in writing.
This liveaboard is best for divers who want small underwater groups, above-deck cabins and a quieter main vessel separated from compressors and dive equipment. The large balcony cabins also suit couples and families seeking more private outdoor space.
Four 23 m² main- or upper-deck cabins, each with a king-size bed, convertible sofa bed, writing desk, reading lights, individual air conditioning, private ensuite bathroom, warm-water shower and furnished private balcony. Standard occupancy is two; approved family or triple use may be possible.
One 18 m² above-deck cabin for two guests with two twin beds, sea views, writing desk, reading lamps, individual air conditioning and private ensuite bathroom with warm-water shower.
One 15 m² above-deck cabin for two guests with two twin beds, writing desk, individual air conditioning and private ensuite bathroom with warm-water shower.
